In order to continuously promote the high-quality and connotative development of our university’s English-taught demonstration courses for international students, the 2023 Shanghai Business School’s International Students English Demonstration Course Construction Project Appraisal Meeting was organized by the College of International Education in a combination of online and offline methods on November 4th. Chen Yili, Director of the International Student Office of Tongji University, Sun Bing, Dean of the College of International Cultural Exchange of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Li Yuewen, Deputy Dean of the College of International Education of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, attended the meeting as review experts. Nine course leaders from the College of Finance, Business Administration, and International Education of Shanghai Business School, as well as relevant personnel from the International Student Office of the College of International Education, attended the meeting, which was presided over by Dai Ying, deputy dean of the College of International Education.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Dean Dai Ying introduced the participating experts, and clarified the course project approval process, the key points and criteria for evaluating course project approval. Nine teachers from the different colleges reported their declared courses. In the course defense session, each teacher introduced the objectives, the contents, the selection of materials, the teaching methods, the assessment methods, the teaching resources and the teaching use platform.
In the expert questioning session, three experts, Director Chen Yili, Dean Sun Bing and Vice President Li Yuewen, exchanged and interacted with the declared teachers around the issues of courses’ ideological and political construction, course construction funding, diversified examination methods, teaching team composition, teaching content, teaching methods and means, and textbook selection.
After the report, the experts fully discussed and collectively voted on the course review meeting, and finally determined that the eight courses were successfully approved. The successful holding of this meeting not only strengthened the construction of the English-taught demonstration courses for international students, but also laid a foundation for the continuous promotion of high-quality and connotative development of international students and the university’s international talent training.
