On March 24, 2026, to establish a platform for in-depth exchange between Chinese and international students, comprehensively enhance the innovative thinking and practical abilities of international students, and assist them in understanding the local market while unlocking their entrepreneurial and creative potential, the International Education College meticulously planned and organized this Entrepreneurial Thinking Workshop for International Students. The workshop focused on the core areas of self-media operation, content creation, and brand marketing. Through engaging, hands-on interactive sessions, it enabled Chinese and international students to spark ideas through collaboration, enhance their skills through practice, and achieve the simultaneous advancement of cross-cultural communication and comprehensive capabilities.

On the morning of March 23, a faculty delegation comprising four members, including Tracy Baldwin from Northeastern State University in the United States, visited our university for a tour and exchange activities. This visit aimed to enhance mutual understanding between the two institutions and promote in-depth collaboration in areas such as faculty and student exchanges and academic program development.

On the morning of March 18, Kristina Carrizosa, Program Coordinator of the Global Academic Pathway Program (GAPP) at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), visited our university and was warmly received by Liu Bin, Dean of the College of International Education. During her visit, Ms. Carrizosa toured the Caobao Road Campus, where she conducted an on-site inspection of the campus’s teaching facilities and educational environment, gaining detailed insight into the university’s teaching resources and distinctive approach to talent development. Subsequently, the two parties convened a symposium centered on key topics such as international education cooperation and academic pathway programs, jointly exploring new avenues for collaboration.

On March 17, the International Culture & Chinese Language Salon was hosted by the International Education College. Themed around Chinese short dramas, the event served as a catalyst for integrating language learning with cultural exchange, providing international students from around the world with a relaxed yet effective platform for Chinese language study and interaction. By introducing an innovative teaching format that moves beyond traditional models, the salon engaged participants in activities such as plot analysis, line recitation, and the sharing of viewing insights. Through this immersive experience, students were able to appreciate the charm of the Chinese language, gain exposure to contemporary Chinese culture, and simultaneously enhance their language application skills and cultural understanding.

To fully implement the fundamental task of “fostering virtue through education”, promote the deep integration of international students into the development process of Chinese modernization, and tell the stories of China, Shanghai, and Xuhui well, on December 12, 2025, the International Education College of Shanghai Business School organized outstanding international student representatives from countries along the “Belt and Road” to participate in the city exploration activity “Perceiving Xuhui · West Bund Art Walk”, hosted by the Xuhui District Culture, Tourism Service and Development Center. This activity is a significant practice in deepening the development of the “Business Charm, Silk Road” international student brand. It also serves as a vivid embodiment of promoting international youth cultural exchange, enhancing mutual understanding, and serving the national strategy of opening-up.

Recently, Luis de Carvalho, a journalist from Cape Verde’s National News Agency, published a signed article titled “Chronicle of a Scientific and Technological Journey in China” in the local mainstream newspaper A Nação, sharing his experience participating in the “Seminar on Green Circular Economy and Sustainable Development for Developing Countries.” The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Commerce and hosted by our university. Following its publication, the article was promptly reposted on the official social media account of the Chinese Embassy in Cape Verde and reprinted by domestic authoritative media outlets such as The Paper, garnering widespread attention.

To deepen the connotation of the “Business Charm of the Silk Road” brand and promote the integration of cross-cultural exchange and business education, the College of International Education organized an activity on coffee culture sharing and hand-drip coffee brewing for international students on the afternoon of December 2, 2025. Using coffee as a medium, it built a warm and interactive platform for cultural exchange, allowing students from diverse cultural backgrounds to share a practical journey blending business culture and the aesthetics of daily life amidst the rich, enveloping aroma of coffee.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the International Education College organized a lacquer fan experience activity on intangible cultural heritage for international students, themed “Painting Lacquer Fans to Inherit Intangible Cultural Heritage, Transmitting Craftsmanship Across the World.” As one of the key practical activities under the “Business Charm of the Silk Road” international student education brand, this event aimed to provide an immersive hands-on experience with intangible cultural heritage. It allowed students from around the world to feel the unique charm of traditional Chinese craftsmanship through the flowing colors and textures at their fingertips, building bridges for people-to-people connectivity and mutual cultural learning. This activity contributed to a new chapter in the cultural exchanges of “Studying at SBS, Experiencing the Charm of the Silk Road” and the Belt and Road Initiative.

On Tuesday noon, November 25, 2025, the College of International Education and the College of Business Foreign Languages jointly hosted the “Diverse Ethnic Cultures, A Tapestry of Shared Beauty” Sino-foreign ethnic cultural exchange event. International students from 12 countries including Russia, Mongolia, Nigeria, and Azerbaijan gathered with Chinese teachers and students. The event aimed to provide a platform for international students from around the world and Chinese students from ethnic minorities to show their national or ethnic cultural characteristics, collectively presenting a splendid cultural feast.

On November 16, the “UN-Habitat (Sub-Saharan Africa) Training Program on Urban Planning and Resilient Infrastructure Construction”, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and undertaken by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), successfully conducted its field study session. Thirty-six officials from UN-Habitat and the ministries responsible for living environment, urban planning, and housing from countries including Benin, Mali, Gabon, Comoros, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Republic of the Congo, and Democratic Republic of the Congo visited the Shanghai People’s City Practice Exhibition Hall, the Yangpu Riverfront Public Space, and the “Green Hill” Ecological Complex. They delved into exploring the construction principles behind the “People’s City” concept.

On the afternoon of November 12, the opening ceremony for the MOFCOM Seminar on Cross-Border E-Commerce and International Supply Chain Management for Panama, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and undertaken by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) from SBS, was held at the Caobao Road Campus. Chen Wei, Secretary of the Direct Party Branch of the International Education college, and Lin Shuya, Deputy Secretary-General of the Pudong Municipal Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Executive Vice President of the Pudong Foreign Trade Association, attended the opening ceremony.

On the morning of November 12, the opening ceremony of the Seminar on Counter-Terrorism Cooperation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by SBS’s MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), was held at the Caobao Road Campus. Chen Wei, Secretary of the Directly-Affiliated Party Branch of the International Education School, and Sun Pinjie, Associate Professor from the Big Data and Counter-Terrorism Research Center of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, attending as an expert representative, were present at the ceremony.
