On the afternoon of May 19, 2023, the College of International Education successfully held the international students’ exchange meeting in the conference room on the 7th floor of the Fengxian Complex Building. Associate Dean Chen Wei and Dai Ying, all the staff of the International Student Office, and representatives of international students from the College of Business Administration and the College of Professional Finance & Accountancy attended the meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to investigate and understand the difficulties and problems faced by international students in studying and living in China and to jointly promote the high-quality development of international students’ education.
At the beginning of the meeting, associate dean Chen Wei introduced the staff of the International Students Office. Since most of the international students came from overseas to China, he hoped that international students can take the chance to eliminate the unfamiliarity caused by the shift from online to offline and actively put forward opinions and suggestions.
International students spoke enthusiastically and proposed difficulties and improvement suggestions on scholarship evaluation, GPA standards for exams, professional internship practices, graduation theses, and insurance coverage in China, etc. In response to the suggestions put forward by international students, the participating staff also answered accordingly.
Finally, associate dean Chen Wei made a summary and pointed out, “International students have always been a group that colleges and universities pay attention to and attach importance to. Through the exchange meeting, we can have a better understanding of international students’ thoughts. SBS has been a benchmark first-class undergraduate university, training a group of high-quality international talents, and as a benchmark international first-class business university, it will continue to do a good job in the education of international students”. He hopes that international students can cherish the study opportunities and time in university, work hard and diligently for better results and participate in various activities and professional social practice to improve practice and comprehensive ability. International students are also encouraged to practice through learning and practice, constantly improve their qualities and become compound and international business talents. They can become a “friendship ambassador” to convey the voice, culture, and story of China and a “disseminator” of cross-cultural communication.
This special investigation work for international students carried out under the thematic education strengthens international students’ understanding of various management methods and measures and the international talent training system of SBS, and it clarifies the correct motivation for studying and the goal of personal development. At the same time, the feedback from international students will also provide directions for improvement and exploration for the internationalization and high-quality development of SBS.
