On the afternoon of June 10, 2023 (Tue.), the College of International Education organized international students to participate in the 13th Dragon Boat Regatta for International Students in Colleges and Universities. Dragon boat racing is a traditional Chinese folklore and a sports and recreational activity. The dragon boat culture embodies the patriotic feelings and Chinese cultural heritage passed down from generation to generation by Chinese people. Through participating in the Dragon Boat Regatta, the international students learned about the interesting Chinese culture, and experienced the unique and wonderful traditional Chinese customs.
Wearing T-shirts with SBS logo, holding paddles and shouting loud slogans, the international students bathed in the drummers’ exciting drumbeats, made concerted efforts to row the dragon boats like real “flood dragons” and strove for the first place. The Chinese culture was inherited in the rippling water.
The Dragon Boat Regatta, the first large-scale offline cultural custom experience activity in the post-pandemic era, enhanced international students’ understanding of Chinese traditional customs and culture and promoted their friendship. They interpreted their friendship with tacit understanding, and showed the family-like ties of SBS students.
