At the 76th UN General Assembly, President Xi Jinping put forward a Global Development Initiative, pointing out that it is necessary to continue to build an innovation-driven society and seize the historic opportunities created by the latest round of technological revolution and industrial transformation to create an open, fair, equitable and non-discriminatory environment for scientific and technological development, as well as work together to achieve leap-over development. Under the economic globalization, scientific and technological innovation has become a global issue. The continuous innovation of high-tech industries is an important means to drive local economic vitality, promote industrial upgrading, enhance national comprehensive strength and stimulate social development.
President Wu Zhong pointed out that China and Latin American countries not only share common values and interests, but also have numerous similarities in many fields: both China and Latin America are in need of revitalizing the economy, improving people's livelihoods, and achieving sustainable development. Only by finding a way out from innovation and strengthening open cooperation in scientific and technological innovation can we win the initiative in development, thus providing a strong endogenous driving force for the economic and social development of China and Latin America and the enhancement of people's well-being.
