On November 9th, in order to continually promote the high-quality and connotative development of the construction of English-teaching demonstration courses for international students in SBS, the College of International Education led an online and offline project review conference to evaluate the 2024 project of the construction of English-teaching demonstration courses for international students in Shanghai Business School. As review experts, Yao Jie, director of the International Exchange Office and dean of International Exchange College at Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance, Zhang Zhe, deputy director of Office of International Affairs at Shanghai University of Sport, and Li Yuewen, deputy dean of College of International Education at Shanghai University of Engineering and Science were invited to the conference. Thirteen course leaders from College of Finance, College of Business Administration, College of Hospitality Management, College of Business Information and College of Business Foreign Language in our university and relevant personnel from College of International Education were presented at the conference, which was hosted by executive vice dean of College of International Education, Dai Ying.
At the beginning, Ms. Dai Ying made clear to the experts present the process of courses project approval, the focuses and standards of reviewing and approving courses projects. After choosing by lot, 13 projects were presented in terms of course construction objectives, course construction content, selection of course materials, teaching methods and means, assessment methods, teaching resources, and teaching platforms by their respective applicants. In the course defense and expert questioning, teachers answered and gave explanations to the questions raised by experts. Three review experts conducted in-depth communication and interaction with the teachers about course ideological and political construction, course construction funding, diversified assessment methods, composition of teaching team, teaching content, teaching methods and means, and selection of teaching materials.
After the review, three experts conducted thorough discussions and collective voting on the report of 13 course projects, and ultimately determined that all 13 courses were successfully approved. The commence of this course project review conference not only deepened the construction of SBS's English teaching demonstration course for international students, but also better promoted the high-quality and connotative development of international students in China, thus, improving the English teaching system of the “Shanghai Business School +” model, and laid a foundation for the implementation of our international talent cultivation.
