The eight major Chinese cuisines, each imbued with distinctive regional flavors, represent a culinary tradition that has evolved over centuries. These culinary schools are widely acknowledged by society as pillars of Chinese food culture. Different cuisines feature different selection standards, cutting methods, cooking skills, and stands for cultural backgrounds of different regions.

After learning about the historical development and cultural background of Chinese cuisine, international students have also developed a great interest in "famous dishes" of different cuisines. They learn the correct pronunciation of dishes with the help of Chinese students, and expressed that they will search for these dishes in the cafeteria and try cuisines different from their own countries.
