Recently, the Office of the Ethiopian Minister of Justice sent a letter to SBS, expressing the sincerest gratitude for the hosting of the Seminar on Developing the Rule of Law for Ethiopia by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) of SBS.
In this letter, it mentions that the successful seminar served as a testament to China's unwavering commitment to advancing the "Belt and Road" initiative for international cooperation, significantly benefiting the participants and leaving an indelible impression. The Ethiopian side looks forward to participating in more short-term training courses in China in the future to enhance the capacity and quality of cadres in the judicial administration system. On this basis, it hopes to continue strengthening exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries, deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, and improving people's livelihoods.
China adheres to the rule of law as an important aspect of modernizing its national governance system and governance capabilities, continuously improving its legal system and advancing the law-based governance of the country. Guided by the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, this seminar aims to share China's experience in advancing comprehensive law-based governance, systematically introduce China's legal concepts, legal system, and judicial practices.Thereby, it can provide valuable insights and references for Ethiopia's legal construction and fostering new development opportunities that enhance the well-being of the peoples of both countries.
The seminar has invited experts and scholars from the Shanghai Pudong New Area People's Court, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and other institutions to share China's legal theories and practices, including China's judicial system reform, administrative legal system, etc. Through practical case studies, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of China's comprehensive law-based governance. During the seminar, all participants were organized to visit Ganzhou and Ruijin cities in Jiangxi Province for field studies.
The seminar received overwhelming acclaim from Ethiopian officials, attaining an impressive average evaluation score of 94.9, with 15 participants awarding it above 95 points. During the closing ceremony, a heartfelt letter of thanks was handwritten and collectively signed by all participants. Hawani Tedis Ayana, an official from the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice, spoke emotionally"The Chinese people embody great humility and possess immense hearts filled with love. Despite the language barrier for some, they persistently endeavored to assist us through Chinese and gestures... During this brief training period, I felt as if I had discovered a second home." In his evaluation survey, Binyia Treken Alemu, an official from the Ethiopian Financial Intelligence Service, penned, "This journey has been a transformative experience, deepening my comprehension of China's diverse landscapes, profound history, and the unwavering spirit of innovation and perseverance that characterizes the nation."
The Seminar on Developing the Rule of Law for Ethiopia was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by SBS from June 4th to June 17th. A total of 22 officials from Ethiopian departments such as the Ministry of Justice, Authentication Service Bureau, Financial Intelligence Service, and Federal Prison Commission participated in this training course.
