On the afternoon of October 17, the Seminar for Audit Officials from Tanzania, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and hosted by Shanghai Business School, visited the Smart Taxation Experience Center of Jiangsu. Welcomed by Chang Yongtao, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Yangzhou Tax Service of the State Taxation Administration, the delegation of 15 Tanzanian officials engaged in this guided tour.
At the Smart Taxation Experience Center of Jiangsu, a guide introduced the visitors to the latest advancements in Jiangsu’s tax administration system, showcasing the center’s visual data displays. In the “Smart Tax Service Zone”, intelligent terminals seamlessly connect to a big data system, allowing participants to explore personalized tax guidance and policy insights by interacting with touchscreens.
Following this, Zhang Meng from the Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation for Economic Growth (BRITACEG) presented an overview of the BRITACOM alliance and its educational framework. Using case studies and data-driven models, Zhang provided an in-depth explanation of BRITACEG’s mission and goals.
During the Q&A session, Tanzanian participant Mr. Tanaka inquired about the practical operations of the smart tax service system. In response, Chang Yongtao provided an in-depth explanation, emphasizing how the system conserves manpower, enhances the accuracy of data collection and analysis, manages tax risks, and protects personal information. Addressing Mr. Ndie from Tanzania, who raised questions about the “home-based service” function of the Smart Tax Service Center, Chang explained that the center uses grid-based management and deploys dedicated staff to offer on-site connectivity and information sharing, effectively addressing tax disputes at the grassroots level.
At the close of the visit, participants added their signatures to an interactive digital wall and took commemorative group photos. Mr. Ndie, Assistant Internal Auditor General at Tanzania’s Ministry of Finance and head of the delegation, noted that adopting smart tax service systems can greatly improve the identification and resolution of tax disputes, strengthen compliance, and ensure the effective use of public funds. He added that China and Tanzania will work together to promote in-depth exchanges in data management, risk control, and smart services, contributing to the sustainable growth of global audit practices.
