MOFET Seminar on China’s Digital Economy Development for Mauritania Successfully Commences in SBS

    On the morning of October 11, the opening ceremony of the Seminar on Learning from China’s Digital Economy Development for Mauritania, organized by the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) and undertaken by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) of SBS, was successfully held. Dai Ying, Deputy Dean of the College of International Education and Deputy Director of the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), and Liu Jianguo, Professor from the School of Digital Economy at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics attended the opening ceremony.

    Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Mauritania have always adhered to the principles of mutual respect and equal treatment, achieving fruitful results in economic and trade cooperation. China has been Mauritania's largest trading partner for many years. In the field of the digital economy, cooperation between the two sides aligns with development needs. China’s mature digital technologies are highly compatible with Mauritania’s demand for digital transformation. Through initiatives such as international human resource development cooperation, China assists Mauritania in enhancing its digital capabilities, injecting new vitality into the strategic partnership between the two countries.

    Dai Ying pointed out that the digital economy is a crucial engine driving global economic recovery and growth. Shanghai, the host city, has achieved remarkable results in the development of the digital economy. As an “International Digital Capital” and a “Dual-Gigabit Broadband City”, Shanghai has laid a solid foundation for the digital economy. She expressed her hope that this seminar would serve as an important platform for Mauritania to gain an in-depth understanding of China’s digital economy development, help cultivate more high-quality professionals in the digital economy field for Mauritania, and simultaneously build a window for exchange characterized by complementary advantages and open cooperation between China and Mauritania.

    Liu Jianguo noted that China and Mauritania share a profound friendship and have already established a sound foundation for cooperation in the digital field. As a leading city in China’s digital economy development, Shanghai has accumulated rich practical experience in areas such as smart city construction and digital trade innovation, which can provide vivid case studies for the seminar. He hopes that the participants from Mauritania can explore digital economy pathways suited to their own country’s development needs by learning from the successful experiences of China and Shanghai.

    Participant representative Mr. Mohammed, Director of Financial Control at the Insurance Supervision Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mauritania, first expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and our university. He stated that China holds an internationally leading position in the field of the digital economy, and this seminar provides a valuable opportunity for Mauritania to enhance its capabilities and knowledge in this field, further deepening the friendship and cooperative ties between Mauritania and China. He eagerly looks forward to sharing experiences and mutual learning with Chinese experts.

    This seminar lasts for 14 days, with a total of 23 participants from various Mauritanian ministries including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernization, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. During the seminar, participants will be organized to conduct a field study in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province.
