On the morning of November 11, the opening ceremony for the “Green Circular Economy and Sustainable Development Seminar for Developing Countries”, organized by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and undertaken by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) of SBS, was successfully held. Liu Bin, Dean of the College of International Education of SBS and Director of the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), and Zhu Ting, Associate Professor from the School of Economics at Shanghai University, representing the experts, attended the opening ceremony.
Currently, global climate change and environmental challenges are becoming increasingly severe. Promoting green, circular, and low-carbon development has become a universal consensus and an urgent task for the international community. Many developing countries are at a critical stage of industrialization and urbanization. Exploring a new path that synergizes economic growth with environmental protection is not only an inherent requirement for achieving the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development but also a strategic choice crucial to the well-being of their people and the future of the planet. Against this backdrop, guided by the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, this seminar aims to deepen exchanges and cooperation between China and developing countries in related fields, cultivating more high-quality and specialized professionals in green circular economy and sustainable development for these nations.
In her address, Liu Bin, on behalf of the organizing institution, extended a warm welcome to the participants from various countries. She noted that while countries may be separated by mountains and oceans, their aspirations for promoting green transformation and pursuing sustainable development are interconnected. Centered around this shared vision, this seminar will not only share China’s practices and reflections on its green development path but also listen to the valuable experiences from different regions. She expressed her commitment to providing full support and services and wished the participants fruitful learning and rewarding exchanges.

She emphasized that China, as a responsible major country, has demonstrated its determination to promote green development through initiatives like proposing the “dual carbon” goals and vigorously developing new energy technologies. She stated that developing a circular low-carbon economy is an inevitable choice for overcoming resource and environmental constraints and maintaining long-term prosperity. She looks forward to facilitating deeper exchanges and cooperation through this seminar.
