creation date:2025-12-03

To deepen the connotation of the “Business Charm of the Silk Road” brand and promote the integration of cross-cultural exchange and business education, the College of International Education organized an activity on coffee culture sharing and hand-drip coffee brewing for international students on the afternoon of December 2, 2025. Using coffee as a medium, it built a warm and interactive platform for cultural exchange, allowing students from diverse cultural backgrounds to share a practical journey blending business culture and the aesthetics of daily life amidst the rich, enveloping aroma of coffee.

Coffee is not only a widely beloved beverage but also a vivid symbol of commercial exchange and cultural integration throughout history. Originating in Ethiopia, it spread along trade routes to the Arabian Peninsula, where cafe culture began to take root. Later interpreted in Europe into the intense style of espresso, and further integrated into local customs across Asia, coffee has developed distinct regional characteristics.

Following the sharing session on coffee culture, the hand-drip coffee experience became the highlight of the event. Under professional guidance, the international students systematically learned key aspects of hand-drip brewing, including equipment usage, bean selection, grind size, water temperature, and pouring techniques, before proceeding to practice in groups. Carefully folding filter papers, precisely measuring coffee grounds, and controlling water flow speed, the participants watched as hot water slowly saturated the grounds, releasing a gradually spreading aroma that filled the venue with focus and anticipation. During the interaction, students from different countries naturally exchanged stories about their own coffee habits and hometown cultures. Sarbarova Raikhon from Russia shared, “Brewing by hand allowed me to feel the subtle changes in the coffee's aroma at different stages. This was a very interesting cultural experience and gave me a deeper understanding of China’s current coffee consumption culture.”

This coffee-themed practical activity not only enhanced the participants’ Chinese language skills and spirit of hands-on collaboration but also provided a relaxed and natural setting for exchange between Chinese and international students, further fostering mutual understanding and friendship. The activity also helped international students feel the inclusivity and innovative spirit of Chinese culture while strengthening their emotional affinity and friendship towards China, injecting warm vitality into cultivating business talents with global perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills.
