Seminar on Business Investment and Risk Management for Developing Countries and Other Two Seminars Completed Successfully

On the evening of July25, 2022 (GMT+8), the closing ceremonies for Seminar on Business Investment and Risk Management for Developing Countries, Management and Application of Modern Rail Transit for Developing Countries and Maritime Transport Management for Developing Counties hosted bytheMinistry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) were held online. Chen Wei, executive vice dean of International Education College of Shanghai Business School, Han Bo, Director of Shanghai Free Trade Zone United Development Co., Ltd. on behalf of all the experts, Ruan Wei, Dean of the School of International Education, Shanghai Maritime University, and Hu Zhangxi from Shanghai Tunnel Engineering and Rail Transit Design and Research Institute attended the closing ceremony of the three seminars and delivered speeches.

The multipolarization of the world, economic globalization, social informatization and cultural diversification are developing deeply, the change of global governance system and international order is accelerating, emerging market countries and developing countries are rising rapidly, the international power contrast is becoming more balanced, and the destinies of all peoples in the world have never been more closely linked. By organizing three training programs, our university shared China's successful experiences in trade and investment, maritime transport management and rail transportation to provide reference for the participating countries and enhance the independent development capacity and cooperation development of the trainees.

The seminar on business investment and risk management in developing countries focused on the theme of business promotion. Experts and scholars from Fudan University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Gold Exchange, Jianghai Securities and other units were invited to discuss the improvement of Shanghai. The practice and experience of the business environment, processing trade and China's industrial development parks, financial reforms in free trade zones and other topics have been exchanged and discussed. The seminar on maritime transport management in developing countries focused on the theme of maritime transport management and invited experts and scholars from Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai Ocean Shipping Company, China Maritime Museum, Asian Maritime Technology Cooperation Center, CCCC Third Institute of Shipping Engineering Survey and Design, Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Transportation, China Communications Center, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai International Experts and scholars from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai Institute of International Studies, and Shanghai Business School discussed and exchanged views on topics such as China's international maritime practice, modern ship safety management, Chinese maritime history and culture, international shipping maritime cooperation, research on the needs of developing countries' shipping maritime development, and the latest development of international maritime conventions and conferences. The seminar on modern rail transportation management and application in developing countries focused on the theme of rail transportation and invited experts and scholars from the Institute of Rising Sun Management of Donghua University, Shanghai Maritime University, Tongji University, China Railway Shanghai Design Institute, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute, Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Rail Transportation Design and Research Institute, Shanghai Shenkai Public Transportation Operation and Management Co. Ltd., Shanghai Construction Group, Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Shanghai Municipal People's Government Development Research Center, etc. Experts and scholars exchanged and discussed with the participants on the topics of planning and design of modern logistics base of railroad, urban rail transit development concept and ideas, intelligent transportation system, comprehensive transportation hub engineering planning and construction.

The three seminars have been unanimously affirmed and praised by the trainees. Participant from the Seminar on Business Investment and Risk Management for Developing Countries, Yaya Cham from the Gambia expressed her pleasure to participate in such a well-organized seminar and hoped to participate more in the future. Malinga Selulig from Zimbabwe suggested that our university could hold such workshops more often to teach developing countries ways to improve their living standards and promote development. Mr. Dunstan Kangwa, Port Director from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics of Zambia, said at the closing ceremony of the Maritime Transport Management seminar for Developing Countries: "Thanks to the People's Republic of China, Shanghai Business School, organizers, moderators, assistants and our respective countries, It provided us with a rare opportunity to study various courses in maritime management.” Elias Volerina Wurdu from Ethiopia, who attended the Modern Rail Transit Management and Application Workshop for Developing Countries, said that through this opportunity, he learned useful knowledge about China's overall infrastructure development planning, urban rail transit management, etc. In addition, he gained a certain degree of understanding of China's culture, history, economy and other aspects, and thanked the Chinese government for providing such a good learning opportunity.

Three seminars lasted 21 days. Seminar on Business Investment and Risk Management for Developing Countries was attended by 29 participants from 13 countries, including Botswana, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Gambia, Kenya and Cambodia.  seminar on Maritime Transport Management for Developing Counties was attended by 16 participants from 3 Jordan, South Africa, Zambia 3 countries and seminar on Management and Application of Modern Rail Transit for Developing Countries was attended by 29 participants from 9 countries, including Nigeria, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Cambodia, Mauritius, Zambia, Kenya and South Sudan. Screenshot of the participants
