On the evening of November 8, 2022 (GMT+8), the opening ceremony for Seminar on Financial Accounting and Management for Officials from Developing Countries, hosted by Ministry of Commerce and organized by Shanghai Business School and Statistical Society for Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of China was held online. Liu Beimin from the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, He Ying, Vice President of Shanghai Business School, Liu Yinan, President of Statistical Society for Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of China, Chen Wei, Executive Vice Dean of International Education College of SBS attended the opening ceremony.
In the context of technological progress and economic globalization, financial accounting and management are facing many new challenges. Only by keeping pace with the times and making continuous reforms and improvements in all aspects of theory and practice can we effectively cope with risks and adapt to the needs of the development.This seminar is a vivid manifestation of the mutually beneficial cooperation and common development between China and other developing countries. It will help to further promote exchanges and cooperation in this field and drive the economic recovery of each country.
Liu Beimin said that the current international situation is undergoing profound and complex changes, which also profoundly affects the existing international accounting order. The role of finance as the foundation and important pillar of the national governance system is becoming increasingly prominent. Strengthening the analysis and application of government budget accounting information, financial accounting information and cost accounting information can provide information support to better improve the financial management and financial sustainability of government departments.
He Ying said that this seminar, led by promoting the building of a community of human destiny, aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and other developing countries in this field, open a new window of opportunity to complement each other's advantages, and provide new development opportunities to enhance the well-being of people. In addition,the seminar has strengthened the exchanges arrangement, and strives to make the participants understand the characteristic cases and the accumulated experience of China, and hope to further strengthen friendly cooperation and exchanges through the seminar.
Liu Yinan said, in order to hold this online seminar, the co-organizers have carefully set up a rich training course and related inspection projects, and also invited a number of experts, scholars and practitioners to give lectures and share the experience of China's financial accounting and management and the latest international research on relevant policies. He hoped that all participants would actively interact, exchange views and share experiences during the seminar so that they could learn and gain from it.
Speaking on behalf of all the participants, Ms. Kay Jacob Sekhoni, Chief Administrative Officer from the Office of the President of Botswana, said that it was a great honor to participate in this seminar and that she looked forward to applying the skills and knowledge acquired in it to the economic development of her country. She said that China and Botswana have a long and good bilateral relationship with great potential for cooperation in many areas, and that the people of Botswana and many developing countries can benefit from China's expertise.
MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) of our university continuously promotes innovation, introduces advantageous resources, and joins hands with the Statistical Society for Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of China to co-organize this seminar for the first time. The seminar will last for 21 days, and a total of 56 government officials from 17 countries including Afghanistan, Cambodia, Gambia and Jamaica will participate.
