Crossing History, Showing the Light of Chinese Thought and Culture —The sharing meeting for Chinese and international students of the College of International Education was successfully held

On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 29, 2022, the College of International Education held an online exchange event for international students from all over the world with the theme of sharing Chinas great artists and brilliant thinkers. The event introduced the representative philosophers and accomplished artists in their respective fields during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods of China, disseminated Chinese culture to international students, enhanced friendship between Chinese and international students, and presented a unique and wonderfully charming China to them.

At the sharing meeting, Chinese students introduced many famous historical figures to international students, including Confucius, a great thinker, statesman and educator in ancient China, and the founder of Confucianism; Laozi, an ancient Chinese thinker, philosopher, writer and historian, the founder and main representative of the Taoist school, who is also known as Laozhuang” together with Zhuangzi; Wang Xizhi, who is known as the sage of calligraphy, with his calm and natural style, gentle, subtle and robust strokes; Bo Ya, the famous ancient luthier who played the seven-stringed lute with great skills; and Qi Baishi, who was an honorary professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and chairman of the Chinese Artists Association. The international students listened attentively to the stories of these giants and were immersed in a sea of philosophy and art.

In ancient times, Chinese thinkers and artists often expressed their wishes for the world to be one through words, paintings and calligraphy. This event was held successfully, aiming to convey the Chinese spirit of “Within the four seas all men are brothers”, to convey the simple and beautiful goodwill of Chinese people, and more importantly, to enhance the friendship between the international students and Chinese students.
