Shanghai Business School and Guangxi Tourism Development Group Signed Strategic Cooperation Agreement

On the afternoon of October 17, Shanghai Business School (SBS) and Guangxi Tourism Development Group Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as “Guangxi Tourism Group”) held a signing ceremony in Nanning, Guangxi Province, to formalize a new strategic partnership. Chen Wei (Moderator), Executive Vice Dean of the College of International Education of SBS and Deputy Director of the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), and Huang Rong, Deputy General Manager of Guangxi Tourism Group’s Strategic Investment Department, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. The event was attended by Zhu Ruijun, Deputy General Manager of Guangxi Nanguo Sports Investment Group Co., Ltd., other key executives of Guangxi Tourism Group’s subsidiaries, and 25 foreign participants from the Seminar on Tourism Management for Tunisia hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by Shanghai Business School.

During his address, Chen Wei introduced Shanghai Business School and the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai), highlighting our strengths in tourism and hospitality management and its experienced faculty and resources for training programs. Chen expressed his confidence that this agreement would lead to an expansive and fruitful collaboration between SBS and Guangxi Tourism Group, and that it could open new avenues for tourism partnerships between Guangxi Tourism Group and Tunisia.

Nizar Djawadi, Secretary-General of the Institute of Higher Studies of Sidi Dhrif and head of the Tunisian delegation, shared insights into Tunisia’s national tourism management framework, current industry landscape, and future strategies. He emphasized tourism as a pillar of Tunisia’s economy, contributing 7% to GDP and playing a significant role in job creation and regional development. Djawadi voiced optimism about the potential for cultural tourism collaboration with Guangxi Tourism Group and looked forward to exploring partnership opportunities from this exchange.

Seminar participants then engaged with leaders from Guangxi Tourism Group’s subsidiaries in discussions covering the alignment of cultural, commercial, and tourism development, as well as strategies for enhancing international marketing to attract global tourists and potential areas for China-Tunisia collaboration. Lym, Director of Litigation and Legal Affairs at Tunisia’s Ministry of Tourism, highlighted that Tunisia is a country open to all cultures and civilizations, and actively promoting foreign investment through long-standing policies. She acknowledged China’s immense market and promising growth potential, expressing her hope for deeper cooperation with Guangxi Tourism Group and encouraging more Chinese enterprises to invest in Tunisia.

Participants Engaging in Discussion

As part of the visit, the delegation from the Tunisia Tourism Management Seminar toured Guangxi Tourism Group’s Marketing and Exhibition Center, where they gained an in-depth understanding of the group’s organizational structure, development trajectory, and business strategy. Participants explored Guangxi Tourism Group’s advances in digital transformation, cultural-tourism integration, and rural revitalization.

Established in 2014 through the merger of Guangxi Urban Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Tourism Investment Group Co., Ltd., Guangxi Tourism Group is a state-owned enterprise under the Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The group’s core mission is to “integrate regional tourism resources and strengthen the tourism industry,” with a focus on three key areas: “culture and tourism, wellness, and urban construction.” Its diverse business scope encompasses six sectors, including “culture and tourism, wellness, urban construction, technology, finance, and industry”, positioning it as the most comprehensive, fully integrated, and capital-strong enterprise in Guangxi’s tourism sector.
