Speech by Zhang Gexing

Chen Wei stated that foreign-aid training is an important component of the country's diplomatic strategy and has significant implications for enhancing China's international influence and soft power. This exchange activity has not just enhanced the friendship and cooperation between the two sides, but pointed out the direction for cooperation between the two sides in foreign-aid training work. He hoped that both sides will continue to maintain close contact and communication, jointly promote the development of foreign-aid training work, and make greater contributions to the country's diplomatic cause.

Officially established in September 2000, Shanghai National Accounting Institute is the location of the Asia Pacific Institute of Finance and Development, which was created by the Chinese government to promote regional capacity building. Under the care of national leaders, the Asia Pacific Institute of Finance and Development has gone through three stages–from a project to a center, and then to a college–and has grown into an important international exchange platform in the field of finance and economics. More than 1000 overseas students are trained annually. The Institute undertakes the "Master's Degree Program in Accounting for Developing Countries" from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Education, mainly targeting young financial and economic officials from developing countries to train international students, and has achieved good results.

Our university successfully held Seminar on Financial Management for Uganda in August, which received strong support from Shanghai National Accounting Institute. The successful holding of this exchange activity has laid a solid foundation for cooperation between the two sides in foreign-aid training work.
