ddOn April 19, 2025, the College of International Education organized a one-day trip to Shanghai for over 40 international students. Themed "Urban Development and Civilizational Dialogue", the event included visits to urban development landmarks such as the Shanghai Expo Museum. Through immersive exhibitions and interactive experiences, students gained a deep understanding of the historical context of the World Expo, the wisdom of China's urbanization process, and the profound significance of global cultural exchange.
The Shanghai Expo Museum is the world's only official World Expo-themed museum, authorized by the International Exhibitions Bureau and located on the banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai. The museum's core exhibit, the "Expo Link" digital interactive screen, integrates global Expo data, providing an immersive exploration experience. Guided by museum docents, students visited the "Expo History Hall", the "Urban Footprint Hall", and the "Future Vision Exhibition Area". Through holographic images, digital sandboxes, and physical exhibits, students revisited milestone events from the first World Expo in 1851 to the present, focusing on the theme of the 2010 Shanghai Expo, "Better City, Better Life", and exploring innovative practices in sustainable development within the global urbanization process.
International youth are bridges for cultural exchange and messengers for telling China's story and promoting international cooperation. This one-day trip is part of the International Education College's "Knowing China Through Action" initiative, a component of its broader international student education system. In the future, the college will continue to deepen its educational system, helping international students deepen their understanding and identification with a community of shared future for mankind through practical experience, and injecting youthful energy into promoting international cooperation.
