creation date:2025-04-14

To deepen practical teaching reform and promote innovative industry-education integration talent cultivation models, the College of International Education recently organized international students to visit companies in the Fengxian Comprehensive Bonded Zone, COSMAX, Meigu Meigou Cross-border E-commerce, and the East China Architectural Design & Research Institute for practical activities. This event aims to build an international practice platform through university-enterprise collaboration, using a "scenario-based teaching + immersive practice" model to help students translate classroom learning into the ability to solve real-world problems, and explore new paths for cultivating international applied talents.

Entering the Front Lines of Enterprises: Perceiving the Innovation of Chinese Enterprises

As an important window for Shanghai's opening up, the Fengxian Comprehensive Bonded Zone showcased its innovative models in cross-border e-commerce, international trade, and supply chain management to the students. By visiting the cross-border logistics center, students gained an in-depth understanding of how the bonded zone utilizes digital technology to optimize customs clearance efficiency and support global commodity circulation. COSMAX, a globally leading cosmetics ODM company, demonstrated the fully automated intelligent production process in its automated production workshop. Students witnessed firsthand the high-efficiency production line producing hundreds of cosmetics per minute. Umar, a student from Nigeria, commented, "This model of combining scientific research, manufacturing, and innovation not only improves product quality and shortens the R&D cycle but also saves manpower, which is worth learning from.” The Meigu Meigou cross-border shopping platform is a benchmark project for Shanghai's development of a new retail model in the beauty industry. Through participation in simulated live-streaming sales drills and case studies of cross-border e-commerce operations, students learned about the innovative capabilities of Chinese companies in digital marketing. At the East China Architectural Design & Research Institute, students visited models of several international landmark buildings and green energy-efficient buildings. The engineering manager introduced how to use advanced technologies and sustainable design concepts to create low-carbon and environmentally friendly urban spaces. Sunmoon, a student from Bangladesh, said, "These designs not only focus on functionality but also fully consider ecological environmental protection, which is very inspiring for the future urban construction of our country."

Industry-Education Integration Empowerment: Joint Cultivation of International Innovative Talents

In recent years, the College of International Education has not only signed cooperation agreements with the above-mentioned companies but also with many well-known companies in information technology, fintech, and cultural creativity to establish practical teaching bases for international students. These collaborations aim to provide students with diverse practical platforms through university-enterprise collaboration. Both sides will jointly develop innovation and entrepreneurship courses and expand industry-academia-research cooperation models. Through the "industry-education integration, theory and practice integration" cultivation model, the practical abilities and career competitiveness of students have been enhanced. On April 13th, the College of International Education led school students to participate in the "2025 Shanghai High-Quality International Talent Exchange Conference & Employment Fair for International Students in China,” facilitating career path matching for students and strengthening the bridge between global talent development and employment opportunities; helping students better integrate into the economic and social development of China and supplying international talent for the globalization of Chinese enterprises.

Looking Ahead: Building a "Study at Shanghai Business School" Practical Education Brand

The College of International Education continues to expand the depth and breadth of industry-education integration, allowing international students to improve their ability to solve complex problems in real-world industrial scenarios through company visits and scenario-based practical teaching. In the future, the College of International Education plans to collaborate with more Chinese companies that have "gone global", building a full-chain cultivation system of "learning-practice-employment" for international students, exploring new models of high-level opening up and innovative international talent cultivation, and helping students perceive Chinese enterprise innovation, achieve knowledge transformation, and enhance global competence. The College of International Education will use practical education and industry-education collaboration to create the "Study at Shanghai Business School" practical education brand, supplying the world with composite talents who understand both their professions and the practical aspects of Chinese industries, helping to build a new ecosystem of two-way empowerment between education and industry, and serving the needs of high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
