On the morning of May 15, the opening ceremony of the Myanmar Athletes Development Sports Seminar was successfully held. The seminar is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and organized by the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) of Shanghai Business School (SBS). In his speech at the opening ceremony, Chen Wei noted that China and Myanmar have always been “paukphaw” neighbors — connected by mountains and rivers and as close as brothers — since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations. The leaders of the two countries have once again reached an important consensus on deepening strategic cooperation and building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, explicitly emphasizing the need to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of sports, culture, and education. This seminar actively responds to Myanmar's aspirations, using sports as a bond to further consolidate the neighborly friendship between the two countries and inject new momentum and vitality into the building of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

Myint Thaik Aung , Deputy Director from the Ministry of Sports of Myanmar and a representative of the participants, stated that the core objective of this seminar is to earnestly study and draw upon China's advanced development experience, and to effectively transform what is learned into tangible results that will support the development and construction of Myanmar's sports sector. He specifically noted that the training program has a rich and comprehensive curriculum, and that the participants are full of anticipation for exploring new ideas to optimize the development of Myanmar's sports industry during the training.

The seminar will last for 21 days, with 23 participants coming from various relevant departments in Myanmar, including the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense. The seminar will also arrange for participants to conduct field visits to Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

The launch of this seminar marks the official and full commencement of SBS' foreign aid training program execution for 2026. A total of 48 foreign aid training programs in China have been assigned to SBS by the Ministry of Commerce for this year. These programs cover SBS' areas of strength, including infrastructure planning and construction, financial cooperation, trade and investment, technological innovation, and tourism management, as well as emerging strategic fields such as civil aviation management, the digital economy, e-commerce, energy economics, and healthcare. Starting with the first foreign aid training program of the year, SBS will systematically advance all foreign aid training work throughout the year, continuously deepen international exchanges and cooperation, share development experiences, and provide access to high-quality resources. Through these foreign aid programs, SBS will build bridges of friendship, continuously enhance international mutual trust and goodwill, and continue to contribute wisdom and strength to the promotion of a community with a shared future for mankind and the writing of a new chapter in international development cooperation.
