On the evening of September 24,the opening ceremony of our university’s 2021 international students was grandly held in meeting room 1401 of Xuhui campus. Vice President He Ying and heads of secondary colleges holding international education such as the College of Business Administration and the College of Hotel Management attended the ceremony. Due to the epidemic prevention and control, the opening ceremony was conducted both online and offline. 30 international students who had already arrived at the university participated in the offline ceremony,the remaining students who were unable to enter the country due to the epidemic participated in the online ceremony through live broadcast platform. The opening ceremony was hosted by Chen Wei, Executive Vice Dean of the College of International Education.

Vice President He Ying delivered a speech on behalf of the university. She warmly welcomed all international students to choose to study in Shanghai and to choose Shanghai Business School. She introduced the basic situation, the history and the characteristics of the university to the 2021 freshmen. She asked all international students to cherish the learning opportunities China provides for everyone, to constantly improve their moral cultivation and knowledge levels, and to be a positive and vigorous youth and global citizen.

Dean Jiang Hong of the College of Hotel Management made a speech on behalf of the secondary college. She sent a message to international students to actively integrate into the culture of Shanghai Business School in the next four years. She wishes that students can cherish time, study with great concentration, actively participate in various campus activities, constantly improve themselves, better serve the society, the country and the world to realize their life values.

Dr. Sun Li from the College of Professional Finance& Accountancy made a speech on behalf of all the teachers. She put forward learning requirements for international students, hoping that they would fully understand the curriculum system of the major they are studying, and master the learning and communication skills.

CHING HUONG KONG and IRADUKUNDA AIMEE from major of hotel management respectively made speeches on behalf of the students and graduates through video connections, and welcoming the arrival of the 2021 freshmen.
HAQUE MD AZIZUL from Bangladesh made a speech at the offline conference as a representative of freshmen. He expressed his desire to start a new life in the university and his determination and confidence to study professional knowledge with diligence.

A total of 154 freshmen of 2021 participated in this opening ceremony. They are coming from 37 countries and regions on four continents including Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. They are distributed in three English-taught majors and multiple Chinese-taught majors in the five secondary colleges of our university. After the freshman registration, the number of international students in our university has approached 200.

This year is the launch year of the "14th Five-Year Plan". The College of International Education focuses on the university's goal of "internationalization", intensifies the recruitment of international students, strives to increase the proportion of international students in the university, and highlights the university's internationalization characteristics. The holding of the opening ceremony marked the beginning of the learning journey for the 2021 international students in the new semester. It also marked that the internationalization of Shanghai Business School is entering a new stage. The internationalization of Shanghai Business School can be expected in the future!
