(1)Objectives

The specialty is dedicated to offering international students a basic understanding of China’s politics, economy, culture, and society, cultivating their communication skills in Chinese, and helping them grasp the operation management methods and means of international hospitality and related types of business, understand the frontier development trends of the hospitality industry, and adapt to the development demands of international hospitality and related industries. After receiving undergraduate education, international students are expected to grow into internationalized, composite, and application-oriented high-quality professionals that can promote Sino-foreign exchanges and cooperation.

1.Management

This is a theoretical, scientific, systematic, and application-oriented course that stresses the connection between theory and practice. It requires students to grasp the management concepts, principles, and laws of basic systems, master the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, and learn to apply basic management methods, means, and techniques.


2.Economics

This course analyzes issues such as social input-output level, price level, and employment level, and applies the general laws of market economy to the concrete practice of Chinese market economy. Its main contents include national economic flows, accounting and aggregate supply-demand equilibrium, consumption demand and input, investment demand and multiplier, financial revenue-expenditure and budget, international balance of payment and foreign exchange, and monetary demand-supply balance.


3.Introduction to Hospitality Management

This course mainly teaches the fundamental theories and organization and management systems of modern hospitality, and the new trends and ideas of hospitality operations and hospitality management. By learning this course, students are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of modern hospitality, possess some management skills, and acquire the ability to analyze and solve problems using the knowledge of management science.


4.Tourism Consumer Behavior

This course gives a systematic and comprehensive introduction to the basic professional discipline of consumer behavior. Its main contents include the nature of consumer behavior and its applications in all aspects of life (especially the marketing field); the internal and external influencing factors of consumer behavior and major consumption groups; the process of consumer decision-making (covering problem recognition, information search, post-purchase comments and choices, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty); and corresponding marketing strategies.


5.Hospitality Housekeeping Management

This course mainly teaches the institution setting and management mechanism of front office and housekeeping; the service standards and norms of front office and housekeeping; the service flows of front office and housekeeping; the management of front office and housekeeping; and the price management, cost control, and service construction of front office and housekeeping. It aims to lay a solid theoretical and practical foundation for internship and future jobs for international students.


6.Hospitality Food & Beverage Management

This course mainly teaches the basic knowledge about the meaning, features, requirements, procedures, methods, and management of food & beverage services. By learning this course, students are expected to comprehensively understand the significance and role of food & beverage services, skillfully master the norms and operation skills of food & beverage services, and effectively cultivate basic food & beverage service management skills and abilities in themselves.


7.Hospitality Revenue Management

This course requires students to acquire professional knowledge about hospitality marketing, financial management, and hospitality operations and management before learning this course. Relying on case analysis, simulation operations, and other links, it aims to help students experience the specific operations and applications of revenue management in hospitality operations.


8.Information Systems for Hospitality Management

This course mainly teaches the structures, relevant theories, planning methods and evaluations, analytical methods, operation and maintenance, case analysis, and new progress of management information systems.


9.Hospitality Strategic Management

This course aims to cultivate strategic thinking in students, and mainly involves the basic framework of strategic management theory systems; the strategic environment analysis, strategic mission and objectives, and strategic position selection of enterprises; the competitive and functional strategies of enterprises; the strategy co-competition, implementation, control, and reform of enterprises.


10.Hospitality Human Resources Management

This course mainly teaches hospitality human resources planning and allocation, employee recruitment, employee training and career development, compensation management, employee incentives, and performance management. By learning this course, students are expected to preliminarily possess the abilities to undertake hospitality human resources management work and solve practical problems.
