The specialty is dedicated to offering international students a basic understanding of China’s politics, economy, culture, and society, cultivating their communication skills in Chinese, and helping them grasp professional knowledge and practical abilities in relation to the development of financial economy, cultivate a strong innovative spirit, and get ready for related jobs in financial institutions, enterprises, social organizations, and public sectors. 1. Accounting
This course mainly teaches general accounting (such as the basic premises and general principles of accounting, accounting elements and accounting subjects, double-entry bookkeeping and accounts, accounting vouchers and accounting books, and accounting procedures); accounting elements (including assets, liabilities, capitals, income, costs, and profits, and their calculation and analysis); and accounting statements (including their meaning, types, preparation, and analysis).
2. Investments
This course introduces in details the basic knowledge, fundamental principles, and practical operational skills of securities investment, and aims to help students grasp the knowledge about stocks, securities, and investment instruments and gain a comprehensive and thorough understanding of securities market and assets portfolio theories. In particular, this course performs unique analysis on securities investment risks and strategies, stock price assessment, stock investment technologies, and listed firms’ financial performance. By learning this course, students are expected to improve their professional literacy in the field of finance.
3. Corporate Finance
This course offers a systematic introduction to modern corporate finance, including various aspects of corporate finance activities. Its main contents include corporate governance structure, corporate investment decision-making, financing decision-making, securities issuance, dividend policy, capital structure, financing lease, merger & acquisition, and corporate pension. Taking lots of Chinese cases as its analysis objects, this course combines the latest knowledge of corporate finance with concrete practice in China to help students understand the main contents of this course. This course aims to help students grasp the fundamental theories of corporate finance and cultivate their practical application abilities.
4. Financial Engineering
This course can be divided into three parts: the general knowledge of derivatives; the basic knowledge, market systems, pricing, and applications of forwards, futures, swaps, options, and other major financial derivatives; and the basic knowledge of financial risk management. It emphasizes the applications of knowledge, stresses the rigor of theoretical models, and introduces abundant real cases. The aim of this course is to help students grasp the fundamental theories and practical application abilities of financial engineering, and get ready for the great opportunities in the new round of financial reforms and financial product innovation in China.
5. Mathematical Economics
This course introduces the fundamental theories and methods of financial econometrics and their applications in economic analysis. The main contents of this course include the statistical basis and units of probability in econometric analysis, the estimation methods of simple and multiple linear regression equations, formulary, stochastic deviations, several typical macro-econometric models and their applications, and model operations using Eviews software.
6. International Finance
By learning this course, students are expected to understand that international finance, as a global economic transaction activity, mainly reflects the international turnover and movement of currency funds. International finance also embodies the general principles and laws followed by various countries in the world and the specific forms of operations in this field. This course mainly examines the international financial relationships in international economy.
7. Financial Statements Analysis
This course mainly examines the role and constitution of financial statements, and the basic hypotheses, general principles, and legal systems related to the preparation of financial statements; the fundamental theories of financial analysis; the basic methods for analyzing balance sheets, profit statements, and cash flow statements. Its aim is to help students grasp the methods of reading balance sheets, profit statements, and cash flow statements; and cultivate the ability to analyze balance sheets, profit statements, and cash flow statements, evaluate corporate finance, and appraise corporate financial status and operating results.
8. Financial Institutions and Markets
This course mainly examines the importance of financial markets; the basic concepts of financial markets; the basic characteristics, functions, and businesses of the Chinese financial market; the management of financial markets and the new businesses on the changing international financial market. By learning this course, students are expected to gain a systematic understanding of financial theories and methods regarding the Chinese financial market, and cultivate the ability to propose improvement opinions.
9.Economics
This course elaborates on the fundamental principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, including the equilibrium price theory, the consumer behavior theory, the producer theory, the national income accounting theory, macroeconomic policies, and market failure. By learning this course, students are expected to grasp the fundamental theoretical systems, concepts, and principles of economics; master the empirical analysis methods of economics; and improve their ability to solve practical economic problems with the principles of economics.
10. Business Ethics
This course mainly introduces business ethics and professional standards, including specific business ethics, standards, and codes, standard guidelines I-VII, and global investment performance standards. By learning this course, students are expected to grasp the key points related to business ethics and professional standards.
