On the evening of September 13, 2022, the College of International Education of Shanghai Business School held the 2022 Opening Ceremony for International Students in Conference Room 1401, Xuhui Campus. He Ying, Vice President of Shanghai Business School, leaders and professors of College of Professional Finance & Accountancy, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Business and Economics, Business Information and International Education attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Chen Wei, executive vice dean of International Education College of SBS, and more than 70 international students from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe participated in the opening ceremony offline or online.
At the opening ceremony, He Ying first delivered a speech on behalf of the university. She warmly welcomed all students to choose to study in China, study in Shanghai, and study at Shanghai Business School. At the same time, she introduced the school’s characteristics to them, focusing on the development of education for international students. She also put forward four requirements from four aspects: Beliefs, morals, academic requirements, and ideals: Firstly, “be open-minded and have high aspirations”; secondly, “Quietude promotes learning, frugality cultivates virtue”; thirdly, “make comrades and friends, learn from knowledge”; and fourthly, “have a distant view and learn from the past and the present”.
After that, Li Zhigang, Dean of Professional Finance & Accountancy College, spoke on behalf of the second-level colleges. He expressed the hope that international students would actively integrate into the campus culture of SBS in the next four years, cherish their time, study intensively, actively participate in rich campus activities, continuously improve themselves, better serve the society, the country and the world, and realize the value of their lives.
Yin Kaiyu from College of Hospitality Management also gave a speech to the international students on behalf of teachers for the new semester. As a teacher and international students’ counselor, he sent his best wishes to the new students and also hoped that the students could have more communication with their teachers to make progress together.
CHING HUONG KONG from Malaysia, KIM JUNYOUNG from Korea and AHOUNOU ABEL WAHAB ABIODOUN SERGIO from Congo spoke on behalf of the current students, graduates and new students respectively. In the speech, CHING HUONG KONG advised the students to have a pragmatic learning attitude and a hard-working quality during their study period. KIM JUNYOUNG expressed his gratitude to the teachers of SBS for their help and guidance in the four years of study, and he believed that the teachers would give full play to their professional capacities to help fulfill the dreams and ambitions of international students. AHOUNOU ABEL WAHAB ABIODOUN SERGIO expressed that he treasured the opportunity to study at Shanghai Business School and would cherish his time on campus.
The international students from all over the world gathered with the teachers of SBS in an online/offline way to uphold the university motto of “Strive for Virtue and Knowledge to Benefit the People”, take up the mission of building a Community of Shared Future for Mankind and become the messengers of cultural exchanges. We wish all the international students can realize their dreams and sail together in Shanghai Business School!
