Seminar on Road Network Planning and Seminar on Comprehensive Planning and Construction of Industrial Parks for Developing Countries Completed Successfully

On the evening of September 22, 2022 (GMT+8), the closing ceremonies for "Seminar on Road Network Planning" and "Seminar on Comprehensive Planning and Construction of Industrial Parks for Developing Countries" hosted bytheMinistry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) were held online.Dai Ying, Vice Dean of International Education College of Shanghai Business School attended the ceremony and delivereda speech. Pang Lei, Associate Professorfrom the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University also made remarks on behalf of all the experts.

With the in-depth development of world multi-polarization, economic globalization, social informatization, and cultural diversification, the change of global governance system and international order is accelerated, emerging market countries and developing countries are rapidly rising,and the contrast of international power isbecoming more balanced. The destinies of all peoples in the world are closely linked. Through holding two seminars, our university shared China's successful experience in highway network planning and comprehensive planning and construction of industrial parks, providing reference for the participating countries and improving the independent development capability and cooperative development level of the training countries.

Focusing on the theme of highway planning and construction, the Seminar on Road Network Planning invited experts and scholars from Shanghai Institute of Comprehensive Transportation Planning, Shanghai Maritime University, Tongji University, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute, Shanghai Construction No.1 Group and other units, to communicate and discuss with the trainees on topics such as urban road planning, road design and construction technology, comprehensive management of transportation systems and intelligent transportation systems. The Seminar on Comprehensive Planning and Construction of Industrial Parks for Developing Countries focused on the theme of comprehensive planning and construction of industrial parks, and invited experts and scholars from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Tongji University, Zhongnan High-tech Industry Group, and Xieshen Small and Medium Enterprise Service Center. The trainees exchanged and discussed topics such as the types and industrial distribution of Chinese industrial parks, the relationship between Chinese and global industrial development, and the strategic planning and operation management of industrial parks.

The two seminars were unanimously approved by the participants. Ms. Elnas Nyasulu, participant from the Seminar on Road Network Planning, who is a planning engineer from Malawi Roads Department, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese government for the valuable opportunity provided by the program. The program provided useful knowledge, showed the charm of Chinese culture and the friendliness of Chinese people. Mr. Solomon Casahun, a civil engineer from Addis City Road Bureau of Ethiopia, said that the theme of road network planning was very practical and it was rare to learn the wisdom and experience of many excellent experts and scholars in a concentrated manner, and he hoped he could come to China for study when the epidemic was over. Ms. Fadirat Sambo Amin Olanrewaju, participant from the Seminar on Comprehensive Planning and Construction of Industrial Parks for Developing Countries,  who is a senior scientific officer from the Federal Ministry of Environment of Nigeria, said that the seminar broadened their horizons and learned the importance of industrialization and globalization. Mr. Tabon Malis, Director of the Ministry of Civil Engineering and Construction from Likoankotla, Lesotho, said that using the seminar as a platform to exchange and discuss with participants from different countries would enable the participants to better unite together and the international community would benefit from it.

Bothseminars lasted 21 days and81 government officials from10 countries including Cambodia, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mongolia, South Africa, Laos, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Turkeyattended theSeminar on Road Network Planning. 17 government officials from13 countries including Azerbaijan, Botswana, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mongolia, Nigeria, South Africa and Turkeyattended theSeminar on Comprehensive Planning and Construction of Industrial Parks for Developing Countries.
