Seminar on Sino-Portuguese Cooperation in the Foreign Market Held by Our University Successfully Completed

On the evening of September 23, 2022 (GMT+8), the closing ceremony for "Seminar on Sino-Portuguese Cooperation in the Foreign Market" hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) was held online. Zhao BentangAmbassador of the Chinese Embassy in Portugalissued certificates of completion to the trainees. Xia Xiaoling, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Portugal, Xu Yixing, professor of Shanghai International Studies University, Marta Lima Bastos, Deputy Director General of the Directorate General for Maritime Policy (DGPM),  of the Ministry of Economy and Marine Affairs of Portugal, and participant representative, Bernardo Mendia, Secretary General of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC) , attended the ceremony and delivered speeches, which was presided over by He Ying, Vice President of Shanghai Business School. The ceremony was also attended by Chen Wei, Executive Vice Dean of International Education College of SBS and all the participants of the seminar.

Expert representative, Xu Yixing, professor of Shanghai International Studies University, said that China and Portuguese-speaking countries have been cooperating in areas of mutual concern, and have continuously strengthened bilateral and multilateral ties, enhancing trade, investment and cultural exchanges. In the future, both sides will continue to sustain their contacts under the political-diplomatic mechanism and, in the process, consolidate all the progress made in Sino-Portuguese relations

On behalf of the trainees, Bernardo Mendia, secretary general of the CCILC, expressed his gratitude for the meticulous organization of the seminar. He believes that education and interpersonal relationships make us all better people, spurring us to think and leave our comfort zone in order to find ways and values to live a fullfilled life. He hoped that the basic goal of Sino-Portuguese cooperation will always be "a better life for all citizens".

Marta Lima Bastos, Deputy Director-General of DGPM of the Portuguese Ministry of Economy and Marine Affairs, said that this seminar is an important time to learn and reflect on the cooperation between Portugal and China in foreign markets and on the opportunities to establish cooperation in the trilateral, as well as an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties and build partnerships. China can continue to trust the full commitment of the Portuguese Ministry of Economy and Marine Affairs. As long as both sides work together, the goal of strengthening economic and commercial relations between Portugal, China and the third market will certainly be achieved.

Xia Xiaoling, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Portugal, said that this is a never-ending seminar, and all participants will continue to use their pragmatic actions to contribute to it. She looks forward to having more seminars to promote economic and trade cooperation between China and Portugal in the future.

The seminar lasted for 10 days and 40 government officials from the Portuguese Infrastructure Agency, the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Porto Réccua Wine S.A., and Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority attended. With strong support from the Chinese Embassy in Portugal, the Portuguese Ministry of Economy and Maritime Affairs, the Portuguese Infrastructure Agency and the Portuguese Entrepreneurs Association, the seminar was successfully completed.
