Ⅱ. Categories
1. The Shanghai Government Scholarships (SGS) is classified into A and B types.
2. Coverage
Type A includes tuition, expenses for accommodation and living, and medical insurance;
Type B includes tuition and medical insurance.
Ⅲ. Eligibility & Application
1. Eligibility Requirements
(1) Citizenship
Students applying for SGS must be non-Chinese citizens.
(2) Age and Education Background
Applicants should obtain a high school degree or above and be no more than 25 years old;
(3) Language Proficiency
Applicants should achieve a Chinese level of HSK4 or above and meet the language requirement of the faculty they apply to join.
2. Application Requirements
Students can log onto the Study in Shanghai website, (http://study.shmec.gov.cn/), which provides information on universities, courses, application periods and procedures, and apply for the scholarship online.
Students are also required to logo onto the university’s admission website http://www.sbs.edu.cn/en_01/ to get enrolled.

If you want to live on campus, please carefully
indicate the room type on the application form. SBS will arrange the room based
on your application time and vacancy situation. Adjustment will be made if
necessary.
(2) Copy of Passport
Copy of the valid passport page(s) with your passport-sized photo, name, date of birth, expiration date, passport number.
Scan & email the passport copy to 1186985089@qq.com, nazeng@sbs.edu.cn with other required documents.
Valid visa copy should be provided if you are in China already.

(5) Certificate of HSK 4 or Above
(6) Recommendation Letter*2 (within in 2 years)

(8) Applicants whose place of birth is China need to provide the following copies : certificate of naturalization, certificate of cancellation of Chinese household registration, certificate of oversea residency record in recent four years (should provide the original copy of notarized document in Chinese or in English if documents are in other languages)
Note:
1) Documents in other languages must be notarized and translated in Chinese or English.
2) Applicants under 18 years old should provide a Guardian's Letter of Guarantee (enclosed).
Application time: Every year in December – 16th, May in the following year
Ⅳ. Annual Evaluation
SBS Evaluation Committee of SGS will make comprehensive evaluations of the SGS students’ academic performance, attitude, attendance and conduct every year. Students evaluated as qualified are entitled to get the scholarship in the following year; those who fail the evaluation will be suspended or deprived of the scholarship for the following year.
