On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the College of International Education held a “Martial Art Stars Coming” event for international students from all over the world, introducing a number of Chinese and Overseas Chinese martial arts stars and their representative films. The event spread Chinese martial arts culture through online communication, enhanced the friendship between Chinese and international students, and presented a unique and splendid charming China to them.
This sharing session focused on a number of Chinese and Overseas Chinese martial arts stars, including Bruce Lee, the martial arts master, kung fu movie star and founder of kung fu movies; Jackie Chan, the famous Chinese movie star and director; Wu Jing, the new martial arts action movie star; Donnie Yen, the famous Hong Kong actor, director, and martial arts instructor; Jet Li, who integrates strength, speed and flexibility to display the beauty of martial arts. Through the appreciation of movie clips and stills, their representative works were introduced, such as “Game of Death”, “Enter The Dragon”, “Fist of Fury”, “The Big Boss”, “Police Story”, “Who Am I”, “Armour Of God”, “Drunken Master”, “Wolf Warrior”, “Hero”, etc.
ABDOURAHAMANE KOURA NOURDINE, an international student from Niger, said: “I recommend the movie ‘Hero’ starring Jet Li, which is an amazing melting pot of colors, Chinese martial arts and other things, and I think it is one of the best action movies I have ever seen”.
Excellent Chinese martial arts movies represent the soul of Chinese martial arts, and also reflect the perseverance and self-improvement spirit of the Chinese nation. The successful holding of this event not only enhanced the friendship between the international students and Chinese students, but also enhanced the students’ understanding of China, better spread Chinese culture, and displayed the characteristics of the Chinese nation.
